"Amreeka," a new film from Cherien Dabis, tells the story of a Palestinian mother and son who emigrate to a small town in Illinois and find that life in America is perhaps not what they imagined. Dabis herself is Palestinian-American and reflects on the role of family, place and home in shaping our identity. "Amreeka" is Dabis's feature debut and opens across the country next week.
