Copenhagen: Fossil Of The Day: Dec. 11, 2009
Climate Action International presents the Fossil of the Day award to the EU and Canada on Friday. The group judges three Fossil of The Day awards to the countries who perform the worst during the past day's negotiations at the UN climate change conference. The slightly sarcastic yet highly prestigious awards are presented by Avaaz.org daily at 6 p.m. locally during climate talks, followed by a presentation by local activists at winning embassies in capital cities around the world. The Fossil of the Day awards were first presented at the climate talks in 1999 in Bonn, initiated by the German NGO Forum.
Copenhagen News: Friday, Dec. 11, 2009
Experts in Copenhagen Friday focused on finance proposals and the upcoming arrival of foreign ministers. Climate Action Network International (CAN-I) is a global coalition of environmental and development organizations with more than 500 member organizations. Every day at COP15, CAN-I conducts a press briefing to assess the state of the negotiations, in which NGO experts break down the state of play and look forward at what's to come. The panel includes Nelson Muffuh of Christian Aid, CAFOD's Liz Gallagher, and Tove Ryding of Greenpeace.
