GRITtv: Suphala: Music Across Borders

Tabla player Suphala made history in 2005 when she traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan, as the first musician to play in public since the fall of the Taliban. She's played with Norah Jones, Perry Farrell, Edie Brickell, Vernon Reid, Timbaland, Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono. Suphala talks about her instrument and her cultural diplomacy, and plays a few songs with Mike Block on cello and Hadi Eldebek on oud.
