GRITtv: The F Word: Palestine Papers, Peace and Concessions
The revelation of thousands of pages of confidential Palestinian diplomatic records has shocked the world -- all of it except the US, that is. The “Palestine Papers,” published by the Guardian and Al-Jazeera, which cover decades of failed so-called peace negotiations, show among other things just how much the Palestinian Authority was willing to sacrifice, and how much more the Israeli government still wanted. GRITtv: Vince Warren: "Big Government" and Guantanamo
The Republicans who will shortly be taking over the house after the recent elections have pledged to shrink the government and cut spending, but, Vince Warren notes, they seem to have no problem with "Big Government" when it's holding detainees indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay. The current flood of torture talk seems to have something to do with the elections as well, Warren says, as it's becoming more and more obvious that accountability for torture is something that only happens in other places. It did happen recently in England, with settlements being agreed upon to several former--and one current--detainees, and Warren discusses all this with Laura. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Street clashes earlier this month were only the latest symptom of the mounting tensions.

GRITtv: Kathleen and Bill Christison: Palestine in Pieces
There are few US writers who have spent as much time in Palestine as Kathleen and Bill Christison. Over they years they've provided an indispensable overview of life in Palestine and their assessment of what's happening today is grim indeed. Settlements are continuing apace and there doesn't appear to be a serious or even a minor shift in US policy. Former CIA employees they have traveled to the region regularly and have authored numerous books and articles, most recently,
GRITtv: Naomi Klein Speaks our on Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment
Naomi Klein, author of such bestsellers as NO LOGO and the Shock Doctrine, is no stranger to calling it like it is. She is now bringing a message from the occupied West Bank village of Bilin: as boycotts helped end the apartheid state of South Africa, boycotts need to be applied to the state of Israel. Take a look -- and tell us what you think, at GRITtv.org.
