  • The Party People of Wall Street   1 week 58 min ago

I think and hope that the days of "too big to fail" are over or are going to be real soon. But, there are problems on both sides of the fence here. When someone involved in the Occupy movement openly brags on television about quitting his job so he could protest, then there is a problem.

Why people feel it is OK to quit a job to try something new and exciting and then complain about there not being jobs and protest over not having an opportunity is beyond imagination.

  • Occupying Hawaii   1 week 1 day ago

No matter where people are trying to change things for the better the landscape can be changed if there is too much hate, or any hate at all for that matter. Some would be surprised to learn that there are many who feel the same way but they don't demonstrate it in ways that seem harmful.

Hating on the one percenter's gaining steam will never get anyone anywhere and while education is what's needed, teaching hate is never a good idea.

Economic, health, spiritual forms of poverty. These 15% are the slave state the wealthy need. These 15% will create future servants, army grunts, prison inmates etc. that will be critical for the parasites in those industries to exist. If we had no prisoners, what would all the wardens, jailers, politicians wo live off fear do!! If we had no desperate poor to serve in the services, how would the military industrial complex survive. And this is true of all the parasites in the world.....the 1% desperately need the rest, but very desperately need that 15%.... So ask, of the remaining 99%, how easy would we get into that "15%" club..... For shame, even God despises the 1%.

  • Executive Pay Exclusive: DN! 01/27/12   1 week 3 days ago

If you really give it some thought I think you'll agree that an executive who can manage to run a criminal organization that siphons off trillions of dollars from millions of people and not get prosecuted, or even investigated, running their corporations into bankruptcy, and then get bailed out by the victims of their crimes, is worthy of every cent they can continue to steal! On the other hand, those who collaborate with them to keep these crimes under wraps, organize the bail-out, appoint insiders to public office, and keep the money flowing, should have no claim to a paycheck for their treachery.

While it is true that we get our new instantly these days, and the information put forth on gay USA can be "old news", so to speak, I watch the show primarily for the editorializing and commentary so interestingly given by Ann and Andy. They not only provide the information, but add insight and fill in the gaps that the mainstream media tend to leave out. Just my thoughts.

It's because I don't know banking I ask what is all of BofA money doing in the possession of Merrill Lynch, was it because the bankers made bigger bonus's while making risky investments? The fact that it just now moving $ 22 trillion into an FDIC insured bank, does that mean that the $ 22 trillion was not insured while at Merrill Lynch? Theres a rat crawling around in this mess somewhere, I can smell it.

Hi there, I don't watch often, but I did Tivo this week and the male host with grey hair, bless you, but you chomped and made puckering sounds with whatever you were eating the entire broadcast. I was a bit embarassed for those I had convinced to watch the show with me. Very unprofessional. I know it's not a big deal in the big picture, but it's just not classy to each cough drops or chomp gum or whatever you were doing. Please refrain if possible. It's just tacky. Peace

  • The Occupy Report 01/17/12   2 weeks 5 days ago

As part of the Occupy movement, I realize that getting corporate and billionaire money out of politics is key to getting a government for the 99% instead of the 1% who own most members of both parties of Congress right now. Tactically speaking, though, I feel the way to make the change is not to go back to many of the same corrupt incumbents who have been blocking real campaign finance reform and public campaign financing, and expect them to vote for a Constitutional Amendment that would regulate where a majority of their campaign donations come from.

The way to get money out of politics is to use our social networks to replace bribe-inducing TV ads and elect pro-99% candidates who refuse corporate money and promise to vote to ban corporate campaign contributions. We need different politicians to pass different laws and create a system that works for 99% of them. That's why I like the ten "fresh democracy" candidates who launched this week with www.BeYourGovernment.org. We need hundreds like them.

THEY will VOTE TO AMEND in January 2013. Not the corporate whores we have in Congress now. BeYourGovernment.org supports the important policy objective of the Move to Amend effort, to end the corruption of our political system by huge corporate donations. We feel that the most immediate and effective way of bringing about this essential change is for we, the people, to use our social and personal networks to become, and support, COngressional candidates who run without corporate money. A core transparency question for all candidates is whether they will vote tfor an end to corproate funding of campaigns, and public campaign financing. We beloiev that electing many new members of Congress who refuse corproate donations can help Move to Amend buld a Congressional majority to get the buck out of the ballot once and for all.

There is a lot of talk about fracking. I don't think a lot of people really know exactly what it is. I hope that there will be better ways to get our energy one day that people don't find some problem with.

There will be nothing that anyone can do to obtain energy if you fear the unknown that someone is not going to have a problem with because some people are too extreme.

  • Robin Hood Tax: Big Picture 01/17/12   3 weeks 4 hours ago

Not only are investor accounts pillaged but increased capital costs are paid by the people through higher costs of goods and services. The IMF states in the Final Report For The G-20, June 2010 about the financial transaction tax, "Its real burden may fall largely on final consumers rather than, as often seems to be supposed, earnings in the financial sector." Swedish Finance Minister Anders Borg warns often that a financial transactions tax in Sweden saw implementation costs out-run revenues, and the tax itself achieved 3% of projected revenues-before subtracting negative revenues from reduced GDP. Swedish Prime Minister Frederik Reinfeldt, "I am against the FTT" From the European Commission's 1223 page Impact Assessment of the proposed financial transaction tax at the temporary minimum tax rate: "...deviation of GDP from its longrun baseline level of up to 1.76% in the long run, while yielding annual revenues of less than 0.1% of GDP. That's a GDP loss almost 18 times greater than the projected revenue of the tax. From the UK's European Scrutiny Committee regarding Europe's proposed transaction tax using data from the European Commission that wants the tax so badly as their own source of revenue: "4.11 The Minister next discusses the Commission's impact assessment accompanying the proposal, saying that...a 3.43 % fall in EU GDP equates to a fall in economic output worth €421 (£362) billion and a 0.34% fall in employment equates to a loss of 812,000 jobs." That €421 billion in lost revenue would have been taxed at approximately 45 percent resulting in a revenue loss of €190 billion.

  • Gay USA: Dec. 27, 2011-Jan. 2, 2012   3 weeks 4 days ago

Wow... What a great show. Having been away from NYC and activism for years, stumbling upon this show warmed my heart. I was tossed into the Gay time machine as I sat here and watched Andy, Ann and Bill who I remember from my ACTUP days. I remember Sarah as a writer from that time but I don't remember her in person. Pauline Park I don't recall but she seems to me to be a "LGBT Mother Theresa". Thank you for keeping this show going all of these years. The discussion is informed, intellectual, and awakened which these days is as rare as a Reichian rain maker. I no longer watch television because I chose years ago to find independent sources for information and entertainment from online sources, those which are not "under the influence" of Corporatocracy. I guess in the case of Gay USA it was a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water, but I'm grateful that I have now found you online.

  • Tea Party Ruse? Big Picture 01/09/12   3 weeks 6 days ago

Is this a propaganda site? The title says "Free Speech Tv" What I cannot understand is how the writer ever came up with this horribly wrong information? It's only explanation is that its writer has an agenda because the content within the article is incredible inaccurate. They even compared a the Tea Party being interested in a group that was unheard of until this last October. The TEa Partiers care about the nation and the constitution and about the direction they are headed in. There was no agenda outside of the two main reasons why the Tea Party got started. I will recheck to see what anyone comes up with as an answer.

Tom, it's a career advantage never to smoke CRACK before you get on camera. What a loser you are to spew such BS. As part of the 99%, we need a message that has some sort of accuracy, and your rant brings us down.

  • GRITtv: Reconsider Columbus   4 weeks 1 day ago

I saw your ad on FreeSpeechTV. Thank you for it. It needed to be said. During the Quincentennial year, 1992, I was paid by my Board of Education in Nashville, TN, to develop a play about the Conquest. I wrote "Dangerous Memories: the True History of the Conquest," from the indigenous point of view. It was thoroughly researched and is a very potent history lesson in 3 acts, written in verse, with music. We called it "A Raparetta." I took advantage of "a teachable moment"--the big fuss being made about Columbus' voyage and 500 years-- to set the record straight about the genocide Columbus brought on. I parodied songs like "Onward, Christian Soldiers": "Onward, Spanish sailors/ lost in the Carib Sea/ thinking you're in India/ quite erroneously." Please contact me if you'd like to learn more. I feel the play needs to get out. Thanks for your enlightening ad. Marilyn Harris, retired ESL, Spanish, French and German teacher.

  • Ron Paul's Civil Rights Fetish   4 weeks 2 days ago

I am sure if you interviewed Ron Paul he would answer your question. Sorry I don't have any quotes but I been deeply concerned about the NDAA and how Obama has stripped Americans of their civil liberties.

But of even greater concern is how the mainstream media and FStv have either not heard or don't attach the same importance to it thatI do. Anyone who doesn't cover this as a national emergency will have lost all credibility in the eyes of Americans.

What's wrong with you? I thought you were better than this.

  • Ron Paul's Civil Rights Fetish   4 weeks 2 days ago

I appreciate the writing, but I agree with the other comment - How about some evidence. By the way, if our liberty, freedom and dollar get destroyed, I am sure these issues will seem less significant. The people need to focus on the major issues befor us as American people and vote accordingly!
