I heard spell bound the Economics Professor's non stop one hour lecture on " Capitalism Hits the fan " on 1st Jan between 7 pm and 8 pm ( CST ) in Free Speech TV . He narrated the American economic growth in last 200 years and why it is ailing now and how the present Govt is tinkering without results and how the financial crisis can be overcome. The lecture was so lucid , a 5th grader can understand it easily. I salute him for his knowledge and thank Free Speech TV for airing such wonderful Lectures without any advertisements in between . I like to share it with my friends in Share Market. Can some one explain how to get this video to listen and share with others ?
I am a cheapskate, live happily as I possibly could in the states on less than 10$ a day. I always say if some serious long term change came my way, I'd make up for all the pledge drives I've skipped out on, and that will happen some day I think. But in the meantime, I thought I'd donate an idea this time (it seems like you all are disappointed in this drive, but remember, recession and all... don't take it personally) Idea! I do manage to come up with 10~15$ each month to keep Showtime on tap. And I don't even watch it nearly as much as FStv. I'd like to see FStv expand personally, like rapidly. So why not do something original, to prove you're the cutting edge / leader of the charge. I really hate these pledge drives... if there was a way to get rid of them, that would be awesome, and I'm probably not in a totally marginalized minority in this respect. Bottom line. Why not stake out space for a FStv2. If necessary, ask for the seed money next pledge drive. Make it a premium channel. Whatever you can afford to charge while maximizing programming. Use most of the money you'd get to make the programming as top notch as possible (listen to your viewers) and shave some creme off the top to pay for FStv (the literally free one) This way you go premium, and don't have an image problem. Make FStv2 free during the time of the year you'd normally have a pledge drive. And dump the pledge drives. People will love you for it... Anyway, this comment/pledge is long enough! PS: mick.pearson(@)wildblue(.)net for more ideas (moderator would you please remove this)
Dish has an unadvertised/unmentioned package for less than $16/month that has FreeSpeechTV (Link and some other informative channels). Ask for the 'Friendship' package. If a very helpful Dish rep. hadn't informed me a few years ago I sure wouldn't be blessed with enriching my family and myself.
I too have been trying to tell people about this great deal. Mine includes local stations + LinkTV, UCTV , Comedy Channel, + others I can't remember. The thing is you've got to get a regular package first but, the Dish rep told me, after one month on any of the the regular packages-you can get onto the "Freindship" package. Ask about it when you call Dish. It's nice to have if you can't hook yr TV up to yr computer. The best thing about it is that it doesn't include F*x News
Looks like things are really off kilter right now in the Dishnetwork guide. Same deal with your fund drives. I hate to admit it, but I have to totally tune out during drives because the TV schedule is useless. For people not following things on your website even if you feel like your fund raising programming is top notch, it's for nothing if people can't see what is on. I think Dishnetwork was the first nation wide carrier of FStv. Please try to work more closely with the people there if possible. C-Span has the same problems now and again. Makes BookTV a chore. Keep up the good work. PS: I'd like to see more marginalized voices on FStv with more diverse POVs. But it seems clear at this point it's a "progressive" voices channel / not really about Free Speech. Which is ok by me, just a little monotonous :)
thanks for your comment. We are experiencing technical difficulties with our on-screen guide. It's currently off by about three hours, an artifact of our new Broadview software upgrade. We have fixed the problem internally, and we're awaiting the corrected EPG report to be distributed by Tribune and picked up by DirecTV and DISH. Meantime, programs are running in their regularly scheduled slots -- it's just the on-screen guide that's off. Leland/FSTV
What's best of free speech mean? What's on? are we supposed to tune in on specs that there might be something interesting to watch? no way! and you expect me to subscribe for this? I'm not going to do that.
Hi, FSTV runs the Best of Free Speech TV during our membership drive, which ends Dec. 5, when the regular schedule will be back. We run our most popular programming during our drives, including our unique news programs like Democracy Now! and GRITtv and specials and documantaries you won't see elsewhere. As you know, we rely on our viewers for 70% of our funding. So if you like our programming and news year round, please consider becoming a member. If you don't, nobody is forcing you to watch. Thanks, Leland/FSTV Web Editor
