Job Opening: Development Assistant

Free Speech TV is a progressive non-profit television network available in over 25 million homes nationwide. The network broadcasts news programs like Democracy Now!, independently produced documentaries, and serial programs promoting social, economic, environmental and racial justice. Working with activists and artists, Free Speech TV uses electronic media to cultivate an informed and active populace to advance progressive social change. The network is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

Job Description:

The Development Assistant provides the support needed to carry out annual fundraising and outreach plans that incorporate individual contributions, major gifts, earned income and viewer mobilization.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain donor and prospect database, including entering data, processing donations and generating acknowledgments
  • Assist with the planning and execution of on-air pledge drives
  • Assist with planning and implementation of special events including auctions, house parties, community screenings, and national conferences/festivals
  • General office duties and projects as directed

    Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience with data entry and record keeping
  • Proficient computer skills; experience with Raiser's Edge is strongly desired
  • Meeting and event planning experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collegially with other staff and partners to achieve common objectives
  • A passion for independent media and social justice, as well as a familiarity with current social, political, cultural, and environmental issues is desirable

    The Development Assistant position reports to the Director of Development. This full-time position offers a salary in the low-$30s, depending on experience, as well as a benefits package with paid leave, health/dental insurance, and pension.
