Development Director
Free Speech TV seeks a Development Director to design and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans that incorporate individual contributions, major gifts, foundation funding and earned income. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and staff to strengthen existing fundraising programs, develop new revenue streams and strategically plan for the expansion of Free Speech TV. - Develop and implement short and long term fundraising strategies;
- Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts and grow Free Speech TV's base of major donors;
- Cultivate relationships with existing and new foundation funders, and submit necessary grant proposals and reports;
- Supervise the fundraising activities of an established membership program, including on-air pledge drives, direct mail, newsletters, tele-fundraising and online giving;
- Develop earned income streams, including online sales and vehicle donations;
- Project and monitor department expenses and revenue; and
- Supervise department staff, interns, and volunteers.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of successful non-profit fundraising experience;
- Proven track record of cultivating relationships with individual major donors;
- Grant writing experience;
- Message crafting that reflects the network's mission and vision.
- Budgeting and fiscal management skills for projecting, tracking and meeting income targets;
- Proficiency with Raiser's Edge 7 or similar donor management software;
- Experience with promotions, publicity, and/or marketing campaigns;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to administer numerous projects and deadlines effectively;
- Experience supervising a small staff and working closely with others;
- Familiarity with independent media and a passion for Free Speech TV's social change mission.
- Experience conducting on-air membership drives is beneficial.
The Development Director is a full-time position residing in Denver, CO. and reporting to the Executive Director. Salary negotiable and depends on experience; benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, a pension plan, and a generous holiday/vacation package. Development Assistant
Job Description:
The Development Assistant provides support for the Outreach and Member Services team, assisting with annual fundraising appeals, live events, general administrative functions and outreach initiatives, under the supervision of the Development and Marketing Director.
Job Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain Raiser's Edge database, including data entry, processing donations, generating gift acknowledgments, and assisting with reporting needs.
- Coordinate and assist as needed with FSTV pledge drives including, general administrative duties, answering donor calls, recording donations and pledges, and premium ordering, fulfillment and inventory.
- Coordinate direct mail appeals.
- Assist Outreach and Members Services Manager and team, as needed.
- Respond to member and donor inquiries.
- Record notes and update donor database records.
- Coordinate department's calendar.
- Assist Development Director as needed, including scheduling calls/meetings, keeping calendar, arrange travel, department files administration, proposal and reports materials gathering/coordination, and other duties as assigned by Director.
- General office duties and departmental projects as assigned by Development Director.
Job Requirements:
- Previous non-profit development/outreach experience required.
- Energetic and detailed oriented.
- Able to interact efficiently with management, staff, donors and Board.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, meet tight deadlines, and carry out tasks independently.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize work load efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
- Prior use of social media for community outreach.
- Experience with fundraising/donor database required (Raiser's Edge knowledge highly-preferred).
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word software suite, Excel required.
- Direct mail appeals coordination experience a plus.
- Willing to appear on live TV for various fundraising productions, delivered to millions of US households and internet audiences.
- This position may sometimes require physical work, therefore the employee must be able to lift and carry 25 pds weight comfortably.
- Willing to travel occasionally and able to work flexible hours and some weekends, as needed.
