GRITtv: Health Insurers Aim to Kill Public Option
The nation's for profit health insurers are out to scuttle anything within the Obama health care plan that might be about anything public. One week after the insurance lobby pledged to President Obama to voluntarily constrain rising costs, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina is preparing a public message campaign aimed at killing the public non-profit part of Obama's reform plan. Anyone who's been watching has heard the data that have them so scared. A government-run plan, with no need for profits for Wall Street or bonuses to retain CEOs -- a public plan run only to deliver healthcare not profits -- would cut the cost of healthcare.

Profit Insurers Stand in the Way of Healthcare Reform
With almost 20 years inside the health insurance industry, Wendell Potter saw for-profit insurers hijack our health care system and put profits before patients. Now, he speaks with Bill Moyers about how those companies are standing in the way of health care reform.
I work in the for profit
I work in the for profit health care industry. It sucks. The board of directors, CEO, and CFO don't want to update equipment or staff adequately. If they could run the entire hospital with 5 people, they would. But when it comes to the "golden" corporate HQ, all it is spend spend spend. They don't care about the patients but the profit is what matters. You hear on the national news media about the VA but for profits are one of the same. We need non-profit reform of health care. The profit and greed needs to be removed.

This is so true. Insurance companies are what stands between health care and the majority of ordinary people. Why cannot more people get it? The answer is mainstream media flaks and broadcast executives. who else are paid off by the lucrative health care industry? It is the U.S. Congress.
Max Baucus is at the top if the current list of rats in Mordor on the Potomic.
I vow to spread the message as I have been for two months. I am an around-the-clock volunteer against the existing health care system. Why? For one thing, I suspect that my condition was due to the cavalier attitude and mistakes of two doctors, a wealthy cardiolgists and a woman who prescribled contrictary meds.
I have had "top notch" employer health insurance my entire life. I have watched the terrible change. Things started going downhill with Bill Clinton and was devasted during two terms with the younger Bush. Plain and simple. "Privatization" and "pro business" philosophy can be very, very wrong. There must be competition and oligarchical consortiums are not an answers. Bush and the U.S. Congress took it way too far. He knows it. They all know it but they will never admit it.
They just salute the "Emporer's News Clothes."
As long as the Obama and
As long as the Obama and Congress try to "reform" healthcare for those who profit from it, there can be no real reform. All the proposals currently under consideration limit access to the poor while enhancing access to the wealthy and bolstering the profitability of insurance companies and profiteering healthcare providers. I love what Moyers and Winship wrote yesterday for AlterNet: "The game goes on and the insiders keep dealing themselves winning hands. Nothing will change -- nothing -- until the money lenders are tossed out of the temple, the ATM's are wrested from the marble halls, and we tear down the sign they've placed on government -- the one that reads, "For Sale.'"
correct.
I agree with you. :)
