Afghan Muscles
In post-Taliban Kabul, the most popular sport is bodybuilding. "Afghan Muscles" takes us inside Afghanistan's thriving bodybuilding culture - a sport that attracts thousands of young men across a country devastated by war and poverty who dream of attaining a better life through muscles. It's a side of Afghanistan and Middle Eastern society that few have ever seen. A championship can bring instant fame, social recognition and honor to one's family. More importantly, it can earn you the support of a wealthy warlord who will open a gym on your behalf. "Afghan Muscles" follows Hamid and his teammates as they prepare for the Asian Championships in Dubai. The film reveals their inner strength and determination as well as the surreal nature of their sport.

Interesting
Congrats guys keep up the good work. Don't think there are any Afghan steroid manufacturers.
These Guys Deserve the Best Steroids
It's amazing how far they could get considering the conditions, this proves that anything is possible as long as you truly wish something. These guys really deserve the best steroids to help them train further!
An ennobling testament
This is a remarkably honest documentary, apolitical, non-ideological, testament to a man’s dreams that seem astonishing they could conflate with those of Western men from societies so different. The filmmaking’s purity honors the grit and decision of materially poor men dedicated to triumph’s aspiration. The longing in those receptive to a great path is the same in Afghanistan as in Peoria. Congratulations. Luis de Agustin
interesting.
Really interesting...fascinating that they would be drawn to a sport/art that is all about mass & consumption, when they have so few resources. that really hits home when the father is talking about all the chickens he has to buy for Hamid!
