Call Me Troy Part 1
Profiling the life and times of one of the gay community's most visible and tenacious advocates for change, Rev. Troy Perry, "Call Me Troy" is a truly inspirational story about a remarkable and dynamic individual whose activism was decades ahead of its time. He was the first openly gay person to serve on the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations. In 1969, Perry performed the first public same-sex wedding in the U.S., and in 1970 he filed the first-ever lawsuit seeking legal recognition for same-gender marriages. This film celebrates his life and his legacy.

"Call Me Troy"
I pastor a church in Inwood, West Virginia that is open and affirming to the G.L.B.T. community and those who care about us. Troy has broken the ground for ministers like me to be able to share the good new of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Gay and Lesbian community here in WV openly. I just can't say enough about this servant of God except May God continue to bless and keep him. Blessings.... Pastor Ricky Klahre.

I pastor a GLBT Affirming Pentecostal church here in Dallas and am very grateful for the work that Troy Perry has done. It must certainly have taken great faith and great courage to do this groundbreaking work. While I do not agree with or support much of what MCC has become, I certainly am grateful, none the less, for their tremendous influence, for the good, within the GLBT communities across the world. I also acknowledge readily that thanks to the work of Troy, and those who supported him, those of us today who minister within the GLBT communities have it much easier as so many have already been able to reconcile their humanity (I believe sexual orientation is merely an aspect of our humanity) with their faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you so much Troy. May the Lord continue to bless you. Pastor Charles Curtiss The ONE Church (DFW)
