Gay USA: Nov. 6, 2009
Andy and Ann dissect the elections, a mixed bag which included a big but narrow loss in Maine, victories in Washington state and Kalamazoo, Mich., but a lot of gay and lesbian candidates won in local races. Pres. Obama signed the hate-crimes bill last week and announced the end of the HIV immigration ban, but is being faulted for not helping in Maine or in New York, where anti-gay Mayor Bloomberg eked out a victory. Sarah Schulman comes in to talk about her two new books. "Gay USA" offers comprehensive news and analysis by and about the LGBTQ community. The program features lively repartee between hosts Ann Northrop and Andy Humm, as well as interviews with special guests.
