Gay USA: Bush Signs a Gay Rights Bill; Obama Another Gay Appointment

We start with the news that President Bush, our nemesis in so many ways, signed a pension reform bill that will allow same-sex partners to roll over their pensions to each other on death without tax consequences. It may just be part of Republican tax cutting, but it corrects an injustice. President-elect Obama appointed an out gay man to a high post in the White House. There's still no out gay cabinet member, though there's a movement to push Fred Hochberg, head of the Small Business Administration under Clinton, for Commerce Secretary now that Bill Richardson is out.
