Gay USA: Outrage in Knoxville; Progress in Massachusetts and California

A Knoxville church is attacked by an anti-gay bigot and two are dead. The “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy is the subject of a Congressional hearing—and is fodder for John Stewart on “The Daily Show.” Massachusetts repeals the 1913 law that it had used to bar out-of-state same-sex couples from marrying there. California’s Attorney General changes the wording of its ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to limit marriage to man-woman couples.
